The UP police in India reported on Saturday to have arrested a man after he beheaded his wife and was seen walking the streets holding a knife in one hand and her dismembered head in the other.
The culprit, Anil Kumar of Basra village in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, is said to have used a knife to chop off his wife's head over suspicions of her being involved with someone else. The couple had been married for eight years.
Authorities said that the murder happened on Friday in Basra village, where the suspect was spotted barefoot carrying his wife's severed head. Furthermore, a video of him went viral on social media where he was seen passing by some people, showing them a sickle in his hand.
After receiving information, the Fatehpur police rushed to the scene and took him into custody.
Dinesh Kumar Singh, the Barabanki superintendent of police, later verified the suspect's detention.
The body of the woman was also found and was sent for post-mortem. The couple had two children, according to SP Singh.
