At least four terrorists were killed, while six police personnel received injures when terrorists attacked a police training center near Saddar Police Station on Bannu Road in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday night.
According to latest information pouring in, the assailants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the facility, triggering explosions, and then breached the center. A fierce exchange of gunfire took place between the terrorists and the police.
District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Ahmed said the police neutralized three terrorists in a swift response, recovering and defusing three grenades from their possession. The death of another terrorist was later confirmed by police sources.
Authorities believe two more terrorists remain inside the facility. A large police contingent, supported by the Bomb Disposal Squad, has been deployed, and a clearance operation is underway amid ongoing intermittent firing.
Samaa TV correspondent Nawaz Mughal had earlier reported hearing explosions at the scene, prompting heightened security measures.
KP CM praises police
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur lauded the bravery of police personnel who foiled the terrorist attack. The police, with unwavering resolve and courage, successfully thwarted the terrorists’ nefarious plans, Gandapur stated, adding that their valor has once again made the nation proud.
He prayed for the swift recovery of the injured personnel and directed authorities to provide them with the best medical facilities. He also highlighted that the government had equipped the police with modern weapons, equipment, and technology, including drones, which were effectively used during the operation.
“These resources, along with increased salaries, enhanced martyr packages, and infrastructure improvements, have strengthened the police force, boosted morale, and significantly improved performance,” Gandapur noted.
