The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has strongly criticised Nepra’s new solar net metering regulations, taking the government to task over the policy.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, the PPP central secretary for information, Shazia Marri, said the PPP was supporting the government but was not part of its policy decisions. She said the party speaks out when government announcements place the public in difficulty.
Referring to Nepra’s recent announcement on net metering, she termed the government’s procedure as 'deeply flawed'. She said consumers who had installed solar panels had been deceived and questioned how they would recover their losses. She also asked why the government was eroding public trust through such measures.
Marri demanded that no additional burden be placed on consumers.
