Apple on Tuesday officially announced its highly anticipated iPhone 17 lineup, introducing four models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Preorders opened on Friday, with availability starting on September 19.
iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air: Slimmer, lighter, faster
The base model iPhone 17 comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display and is powered by Apple’s A19 chip. It features a dual-camera system with a 48-megapixel Fusion Main and a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens, supporting .5x, 1x, and 2x optical zoom. With a 3,692 mAh battery, it offers strong day-long performance.
The new iPhone 17 Air is slightly larger at 6.5 inches but slimmer and lighter, weighing just 165 grams. It runs on the A19 Pro chip for faster performance. The Air features a single 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with 1x and 2x zoom and comes with a 3,149 mAh battery.

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: Power and precision
For power users, Apple has equipped both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max with the A19 Pro chip and a triple-camera setup. The system includes a 48 MP Fusion Main (ƒ/1.78), 48 MP Ultra Wide (ƒ/2.2), and 48 MP Telephoto (ƒ/2.8) lens with optical zoom ranging from .5x up to 8x.
The iPhone 17 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, weighs 206 grams, and houses a 4,262 mAh battery. The larger Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch display, weighs 233 grams, and packs a 5,088 mAh battery for extended usage.

Shared features across lineup
All iPhone 17 models come with an 18-megapixel Center Stage front camera with dual capture video, ensuring sharper selfies and video calls. Charging has moved fully to USB-C, with the Pro models supporting USB 3 speeds while the standard and Air models offer USB 2.
