Questions are being raised over the impact on Pakistan’s net run-rate if the team does not play its T20 World Cup 2026 match against India.
The possible effects on points and net run-rate for both teams are under discussion, with social media users outlining various scenarios.
If Pakistan withdraw, the match will be awarded to India, giving them two points, while Pakistan would need to win their remaining matches with a strong net run-rate to qualify for the Super Eight stage.
Under ICC playing conditions clause 16.10.7, if a team refuses to play a match, the withdrawing team’s net run-rate is affected, while the opposing team’s net run-rate remains unchanged. As a result, Pakistan’s net run-rate in the tournament would be impacted.
Group A includes India, Pakistan, the United States, Namibia and the Netherlands.
