Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi has confirmed on Tuesday that Pakistan has received a formal invitation to attend the Iran-US talks and will participate in the process.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan will also take part in the negotiations. The talks between Iran and the United States will be held on Friday in Istanbul.
It may be recalled that following a series of threats, tensions between Iran and the United States had escalated. However, both sides have now agreed to engage in dialogue on the nuclear issue and will sit at the negotiating table in Istanbul on Friday.
The Iranian president said the decision to consider the US offer for talks was taken on the advice of friendly countries. He directed the foreign minister to help create a favourable environment for dialogue and said Iran’s national interests would remain the top priority.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said respect would be met with respect, adding that Iran would not bow to threats. He said that after failed conspiracies, the United States had returned to the negotiating table.
The US president has also confirmed talks with Iran. Speaking to the media at the White House, he said discussions were under way and added that success would be better for everyone, otherwise the outcome would be very bad.
