Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq has said that the Pak-Saudi defence agreement has given a new dimension to bilateral relations, strengthening both security cooperation and economic ties.
He highlighted record-breaking exports and growing workforce contributions as signs of deepening partnership.
Ambassador Farooq said the defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has strengthened the defence capabilities of both countries. He described the pact as a major milestone that has further solidified long-standing bilateral relations.
According to the ambassador, defence cooperation has also helped create trust and momentum in other areas of engagement.
Exports hit historic high
Ambassador Farooq said Pakistani exports to Saudi Arabia have reached their highest level in history, touching $720 million annually. In addition, Pakistan has provided services worth $590 million to the kingdom.
He said combined exports of goods and services to Saudi Arabia have now reached $1.3 billion, reflecting growing economic cooperation.
Export agreement in eight sectors soon
The ambassador announced that within a month, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will sign an agreement covering eight sectors, including information technology, agriculture and textiles. He said the agreement will further boost the export of Pakistani products to the Saudi market.
Officials expect the deal to open new opportunities for Pakistani businesses and exporters across multiple industries.
He said Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia account for 25% of the foreign exchange sent from the kingdom to the rest of the world. He noted that Saudi Arabia remains one of the largest sources of remittances for Pakistan.
During 2025 alone, around 500,000 Pakistani workers arrived in Saudi Arabia, bringing the total number of Pakistanis working in the kingdom to three million.
The ambassador said the Embassy of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia is working with dedication and commitment to resolve issues faced by Pakistani citizens. He added that all departments of the embassy are actively engaged in providing guidance and support to compatriots living in the kingdom.
He emphasized that protecting the interests and welfare of overseas Pakistanis remains a top priority.
