In a crucial phone conversation, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reached out to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, expressing deep concern over the recent missile attacks by India on Pakistani territory.
Prime Minister Sharif appreciated Turkey's unwavering support for Pakistan, particularly in the face of India’s unprovoked aggression.
Prime Minister Sharif condemned India’s missile strikes, which tragically led to the loss of 26 innocent lives, including men, women, and children. He stated that these attacks not only endangered Pakistan’s sovereignty but also posed a serious threat to peace and stability in South Asia, adding that such actions are completely unacceptable.
President Erdogan, in a heartfelt response, conveyed his condolences for the tragic loss of life in the attacks and praised Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining peace in the region. He reiterated Turkey’s solidarity with Pakistan, emphasizing that the Turkish people stand with Pakistan’s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and regional peace.
Sharif also highlighted Pakistan’s firm stance against India’s attempts to falsely accuse Pakistan in the Pahalgam incident, where India failed to provide any evidence to support its claims. Pakistan rejected these baseless allegations and called for an impartial international investigation, which India has consistently refused. The prime minister stressed that India’s aggressive behaviour and refusal to engage in diplomatic discussions only escalated tension in the region.
In his conversation, Erdogan shared that Turkey’s Foreign Minister had recently spoken with Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, to discuss the escalating situation. He assured Sharif that Turkey supports efforts to de-escalate the conflict and expressed readiness to play a constructive role in easing tensions.
President Erdogan concluded by affirming Turkey’s hopes for the success of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and assured that the Turkish nation would continue to support Pakistan in its pursuit of peace and stability.
