Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised objections over the constitution of the bench in the Supreme Court's suo motu notice on the letter penned by six judges from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
PTI spokesperson Rauf Hasan emphasised the party's stance, advocating for the establishment of a full court to address this crucial matter and suggesting that proceedings be televised live.
Rauf lauded the decision of former Chief Justice Tasadeq Hussain Jilani to resign from heading the inquiry commission, citing his commendable reputation.
Additionally, he proposed convening a lawyers' convention to deliberate on the concerns highlighted in the High Court judges' letter.
The letter, authored by six judges of the Islamabad High Court, expressed apprehensions regarding undue interference by secret agencies in judicial affairs. Initially, a commission chaired by Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani was tasked with investigating the matter.
However, following Jilani's resignation, the Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa has formed a 7-member larger bench to oversee the case, a move contested by PTI.
