As the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, prepares for her return to royal duties following the announcement of Princess Diana's cancer diagnosis, Kensington Palace has revealed that her comeback will be meticulously orchestrated.
With the timing of her return still uncertain pending medical clearance, palace insiders suggest that Kate's re-entry into public life will be handled with utmost care and consideration. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, speaking to OK! Magazine, speculated on the palace's strategic approach to reintroducing Kate to her official responsibilities.
"I can’t honestly see that it’s going to take that much planning for her to return – hopefully gently – to public life," remarked Bond, noting the careful management by palace officials.
While hopes were raised for a potential appearance alongside the royal family during Easter Sunday services at St George’s Chapel, Bond suggested that Kate is more likely to commence her official engagements after the school holidays.
"I think a soft landing would be visiting something to do with her early years’ development projects," Bond elaborated. "Children don’t judge and probably wouldn’t ask too many personal questions. And it is a cause that is so close to the princess’s heart."
Emphasizsng the need for a gradual reintegration, Bond advised Kate's team to be cautious not to overload her schedule in the initial stages of her return. "I think something with children would be the kindest way for her to resume life as a working royal. And then her team should be careful not to overload her diary in the early weeks and months."
