US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan has made it clear that President Joe Biden does not support a ground operation in the Palestinian city of Rafah, despite escalating tensions in the region.
The statement comes amidst growing concerns over potential military action by Israeli forces.
During a recent press briefing, Sullivan emphasized that an attack on Rafah would not bring stability to the already volatile region. "Our position is that a military operation in Rafah that does not protect civilians, that cuts off the main arteries of humanitarian assistance, and that places enormous pressure on the Israel-Egypt border is not something that he can support," Sullivan stated during the weekly briefing, highlighting that the Biden administration was "talking to the Israelis about that" and "working through it".
