Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a PML-N delegation met him and President Asif Ali Zardari to seek their support for the approval of the proposed 27th Amendment.
Bilawal Zardari shared details of the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), saying the PML-N delegation led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif requested the PPP’s backing for the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
He revealed that the proposed amendment seeks to establish a Constitutional Court, restore the system of executive magistrates, and empower authorities to transfer judges.
Amendment covers NFC, education, and ECP appointments
Bilawal added that the amendment also proposes the removal of provincial share protection in the National Finance Commission (NFC) and changes to Article 243 of the Constitution.

“It is also proposed to return the powers of education and population planning to the federation,” Bilawal stated.
He further said that ending the ongoing deadlock on the appointment of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is also part of the proposed constitutional changes.
PPP to decide party policy on Nov 6
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced that a meeting of the PPP Central Executive Committee (CEC) has been called for November 6.
He said that the party’s official policy regarding the 27th Amendment would be finalized after President Asif Ali Zardari’s return from Doha.
