Police in Pattoki’s Habibabad area have registered a case and arrested a citizen for playing Punjabi songs loudly at a local dhaba, disturbing nearby shopkeepers and residents.
The action was taken after multiple complaints from the public regarding the loud noise.
Public complaints prompt police intervention
According to police officials, Farooq, a local shopkeeper, was repeatedly warned by residents to lower the volume but failed to comply. Following continuous disturbances, the police arrived on the scene in response to public complaints and took immediate action.
Farooq was arrested on the spot for violating the Sound Systems Act and causing public nuisance, authorities confirmed.
Case registered under Loudspeaker Act
The Pattoki Saddar Police Station registered a case against the suspect for disturbing the peace and violating the Loudspeaker Act, which regulates the use of sound systems and public noise levels. Police said they had initiated further legal proceedings against him.
Local shopkeepers and residents of Habibabad thanked the police for addressing the noise pollution issue and taking prompt action against the violator. They said the loud music had been a constant disturbance for the community, especially during working hours.
