PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has announced that the party will move the Supreme Court against the Peshawar High Court’s verdict withdrawing its election symbol of bat.
Addressing the media after the court’s reserved decision was pronounced on the review plea of the election commission, Gohar said if the bat was withdrawn, the nation would not accept the elections. “The PTI has been severely punished today,” he claimed.
Barrister Gohar insisted that the party will still go into elections even if its symbol is not restored. “There should be dialogue between political parties,’ he insisted, adding that the party never shied away from talks.

The PTI chairman further said that “these people” were even scared of their “under-19 team”, claiming that there will be questions on the transparency of elections if the party’s symbol is not restored.
He further remarked that the PTI could not be deprived of 227 reserved seats. “The Supreme Court has said that corruption must be eliminated to ensure a strong government,” Barrister Gohar added.
“We will go to the Supreme Court against the high court’s decision,” he announced, adding that he was sure the Supreme Court would get them the ‘bat’ back.
He further requested that the Supreme Court hear them soon and also claimed that if the apex court doesn't get them the election symbol back, the party will participate in the election as independent candidates.
Earlier today, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) announced its reserved verdict in the case regarding the election symbol for the PTI and its intra-party elections.
The court accepted the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) plea and withdrew its previous stay order on the ECP verdict annulling the PTI’s intra-party poll and subsequently withdrawing its election symbol of bat.
