Milan revealed that the German defender underwent tests, indicating a "severe musculotendinous tear of the biceps femoris in his left thigh." While the club did not specify the duration of his absence, additional tests are scheduled in 7–10 days.
Reports from Italian media suggest that Thiaw is likely to be unavailable for approximately two months. The 22-year-old pulled up with the injury early in the second half of Milan's 3-1 loss to Dortmund, exacerbating the injury challenges faced by Milan this season.
Thiaw's setback marks Milan's 25th injury this season, compounding the team's woes as they strive to stay competitive in both Serie A and the Champions League. Milan, currently at the bottom of Group F, needs a victory against Newcastle United in their final group match and relies on leaders Dortmund beating Paris Saint-Germain for a chance to advance to the last 16.
Despite the Champions League setback, Stefano Pioli's team is positioned third in Serie A, trailing leaders Inter Milan by six points. Milan will host Frosinone on Saturday as they seek to maintain their domestic league form in Thiaw's absence.
