Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan said on Wednesday that the present side defeated India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, a feat the former cricketers now criticising the team’s performance did not accomplish themselves.
Speaking after Pakistan thrashed Namibia by 102 runs to reach the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Shadab said fluctuations were part of Twenty20 cricket.
He said former cricketers continued to analyse the side, yet they had achieved nothing of note in the World Cup during their own careers.
Shadab said criticism remained beyond a player’s control. He added that apart from the top two or three positions, the batting order could change at any time.
He said the value of an all-rounder in Twenty20 cricket remained high, adding that head coach Mike Hesson took particular interest in developing all-rounders.
The all-rounder said that since his return to the side only one over had gone badly for him.
