South Africa defeated the United Arab Emirates by six wickets to preserve their winning run in the ongoing edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup on Wednesday, ahead of the Super 8 stage.
Batting first, the UAE posted 122 for six in their allotted 20 overs. Alishan Sharafu top-scored with 45 from 38 balls, striking five fours and a six. Muhammad Waseem made 22 from 12 deliveries, while Aryansh Sharma added 13.
Corbin Bosch returned figures of three for 12 in four overs. Anrich Nortje claimed two for 28, and George Linde took one for 17.
In reply, South Africa reached the target of 123 in 13.2 overs for the loss of four wickets.
Captain Aiden Markram struck 28 from 11 balls, including five fours and a six. Ryan Rickelton scored 30 off 16 deliveries, while Dewald Brevis made 36 from 25 balls.
Haider Ali, Muhammad Jawadullah, Muhammad Arfan and Muhammad Farooq secured one wicket apiece for the UAE.
South Africa completed the chase with 40 balls to spare, extending their winning streak in the tournament.
