Australia reached 182 for six in their 20 overs against Ireland in the 14th match of the T20 World Cup in Colombo on Wednesday.
Marcus Stoinis struck 45, Josh Inglis made 37 and Matt Renshaw scored 37 as Australia produced a strong total. After winning the toss, Australia batted first and were impressive in the powerplay, scoring 64 for two.
Travis Head was run out for six, while Cameron Green fell for two, with Ireland conceding 56 runs in his four overs. Josh Inglis top-scored for Australia with 37 from 17 balls, including six fours and a six.
Matt Renshaw made a steady 37 off 33 deliveries, and Glenn Maxwell contributed nine runs. Ireland’s Mark Adair took two wickets, including Stoinis, while Matthew Humphreys and Harry Tector claimed one each.
Ireland began their chase poorly, reaching 17 for three in 2.3 overs, with Paul Stirling retiring hurt. Ross Adair was dismissed by Nathan Ellis for 12, and Harry Tector was out for a duck.
Curtis Campher was also dismissed by Ellis, leaving Ireland in early trouble.
