Australia have suffered a major setback ahead of their opening match against Ireland, with captain Mitchell Marsh ruled out through injury.
Details emerged on Wednesday confirming that Marsh has sustained a groin injury and has been rested for the first fixture.
In his absence, Travis Head will lead Australia in the match against Ireland today.
Cricket Australia has called up Steve Smith to Sri Lanka as a backup option. Smith is not part of the T20 World Cup squad but may be included if required.
