Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) South Punjab President Syed Rafaqat Ali Gillani said on Friday that under the leadership of Field Marshal Gen Syed Asim Munir, no hostile force could dare to cast an evil eye on Pakistan.
Speaking at a major party convention in Layyah, Gillani saluted the armed forces of Pakistan and commended their unwavering defence of the nation.
“I extend my salutations to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their resolute response to our enemies, particularly against Indian aggression,” he said.
“We are proud of Field Marshal Asim Munir. Under his command, no one can threaten the sovereignty of our homeland,” Gillani added.
He also congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir on his leadership and lauded the armed forces, saying they are the reason Pakistan remains secure.
– Demand of separate South Punjab province –
During his address, Gillani reiterated a longstanding regional demand: “Our foremost demand is the creation of a separate province for South Punjab. This must be included in the party’s manifesto,” he stressed.
He also urged party leadership to formally adopt this goal in future political commitments.
– Development demands for Layyah –
Gillani called for urgent development projects in Layyah, highlighting the region’s neglect:
He demanded that Layyah be declared a division, stating it is the will of the local people.
He noted that the Layyah-Tonsa Bridge was constructed seven to eight years ago, yet connecting roads remain incomplete.
He highlighted the need for a medical college in Layyah, urging authorities to prioritise its completion.
– Support for farmers and tribute to leadership –
Gillani expressed concern over the condition of farmers in South Punjab: “Farmers in South Punjab are facing severe hardship. The party must include farmer-friendly policies in its manifesto,” he said.
He thanked Abdul Aleem Khan for visiting Layyah and giving the locals due recognition.
