Hoor-un-Nisa Palijo, the central vice president of Awami Tehreek, passed away in Karachi at the age of 81 due to respiratory complications, according to a spokesperson for the party.
Awami Tehreek has announced a three-day mourning period. Hoor-un-Nisa Palijo was one of the founding members of the Sindhyani Tehreek. She played a significant role in the struggle against the military regimes of General Zia-ul-Haq and General Pervez Musharraf. She was also active in campaigns against canal-based and corporate farming.
She represented the women of Sindh internationally, including in India and the Philippines. Hoor-un-Nisa Palijo followed the revolutionary ideology of Rasool Bakhsh Palijo throughout her life. The leadership of both Awami Tehreek and Sindhyani Tehreek have expressed deep sorrow over her passing.
