Pakistan on Wednesday summoned the Indian Charge d'Affaires to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lodge a strong protest over unprovoked ceasefire violations that reportedly resulted in civilian casualties on the Pakistani side, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In a statement, the Foreign Office (FO) said the Indian envoy was summoned following what it described as “indiscriminate and unprovoked” attacks by Indian forces across the Line of Control (LoC), which left several civilians, including women and children, dead or wounded.
“The Indian Charge d'Affaires was conveyed Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the latest ceasefire violations, which are a clear violation of international law and existing bilateral agreements,” said FO spokesperson.
He said the attacks targeted civilian populations in border areas of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.
