A pet parrot in China has amazed the world with its sharp intelligence, setting a Guinness World Record for the fastest color recognition by a bird.
The parrot, named Xiaogui, belongs to Chen Feng, who adopted him in 2020.
During the record attempt, Xiaogui successfully recognized and sorted 10 different colors in just 33.5 seconds, securing his place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
How the record was set
The challenge required Xiaogui to pick up colored balls and place them in their matching boxes. At one point, he mistakenly placed a dark pink ball into a light pink box but quickly corrected himself, impressing the judges with his awareness.

Training inspired by play
According to Feng, Xiaogui’s training began when he noticed the bird’s love for playing with colored balls. Encouraged by this natural curiosity, Feng gradually taught him to identify and sort colors, turning playtime into a remarkable skill.

Xiaogui’s achievement is being celebrated not only as a source of pride for his owner but also as a fascinating example of animal intelligence. His ability highlights how training and interaction can bring out surprising talents in animals.
