Canon has unveiled a Limited Edition version of its popular PowerShot G7 X III compact camera to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its PowerShot digital camera lineup.
The model adds exclusive design touches while retaining the features that made it a favorite among vloggers and influencers.
Canon introduced its first PowerShot camera in 1996, featuring a modest 0.5-megapixel sensor that helped kickstart the digital photography revolution.
To commemorate three decades of the series, the company has refreshed the PowerShot G7 X III with a Limited Edition release. Despite the anniversary branding, the camera’s core specifications remain unchanged from the original model launched nearly seven years ago.
The Limited Edition G7 X III comes in a new “graphite” color designed to convey a more premium look.

Canon has also added a knurled front ring, which the company says is meant to evoke a sense of “luxury and quality.” A 30-year anniversary logo is printed on the body, giving the camera a distinct identity suited for a commemorative release.
Camera that became vlogger favourite
The PowerShot G7 X III was one of the first cameras marketed specifically toward vloggers.
It gained attention for supporting vertical video for Instagram and offering features such as a 20.1-megapixel sensor, a flip-up 3-inch touchscreen, and a 24–100mm f/1.8–2.8 zoom lens. The camera also includes a microphone input, supports uncropped 4K video at 30 frames per second, and can record 1080p video at up to 120 frames per second.
One standout feature at launch was the ability to stream directly to YouTube over Wi-Fi.
While direct streaming is now common, it was a notable addition at the time and helped set the G7 X III apart. The camera originally launched with a retail price of $749.
Short supply and rising prices
For a period, the G7 X III was difficult to find as demand surged among influencers.
Used models began selling well above their original list price. In August 2025, Canon announced it would increase production, and the camera returned to stock a few months later with a higher price tag of $880.
Limited edition price
The Limited Edition G7 X III carries a significantly higher price of $1,299.
The package includes a limited edition Peak Design cuff wrist strap and a 32GB SD card. Canon says shipping is expected to begin in April 2026.
Alongside the anniversary camera, Canon also revealed two new RF-mount full-frame lenses.
The first is the RF 14mm f/1.4 L VCM ultra-wide prime lens, priced at $2,599 and aimed at users seeking bright, high-quality optics. The second is the RF 7–14mm f/2.8–3.5 L Fisheye STM zoom lens, priced at $1,899, offering up to a 190-degree field of view at its widest setting.
