Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed today across Pakistan and worldwide, honoring the resilience and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people.
The day serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s unwavering support for their right to self-determination.
Across Pakistan, ceremonies, seminars, rallies, processions, and conferences are being held to highlight the Kashmir issue to the global community. Citizens and organizations are uniting to pay tribute to the bloodshed and resilience of Kashmiris in the occupied valley.
A symbolic human chain will be formed at Kohala Bridge, expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Pakistanis around the world are also participating in solidarity events to echo this message globally.
Human cost of occupation
Over the past seven decades, more than six lakh Kashmiris have lost their lives in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In the last 34 years alone, over 96,000 were martyred, 7,000 were killed in custody, and more than 100,000 children were deprived of parental care.
Since August 5, 2019, Indian atrocities have escalated. In the past five years, 966 Kashmiris were killed, over 25,000 arrested, and thousands subjected to torture in detention. Even in January 2025, state repression continued, resulting in further loss of innocent lives.
On this day, Pakistan reiterates that the struggle of the Kashmiri people is its struggle. Officials and citizens alike convey the message that the Kashmiri people are not alone in their fight for freedom.
The day is marked with the hope that the sun of freedom will one day rise over the Kashmir Valley, and that justice and self-determination will prevail for the oppressed population.
