The Lahore High Court has reserved its decision following a hearing on the petition regarding the election results of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja.
During the session, Justice Ali Baqir Najafi presided over the proceedings, where arguments were presented on the petition filed by Salman Akram Raja concerning the delay in releasing election results. After carefully considering the arguments, Justice Najafi reserved the verdict, which is expected to be announced shortly.
The petitioner’s legal representative emphasized that the matter at hand was not solely about the vote count but rather centered on a violation of electoral rules. According to the Election Act, it was highlighted that candidates must be present during the result compilation process for transparency and adherence to regulations.
Furthermore, the petitioner’s counsel emphasized the pivotal question before the court: whether election results can be deemed valid in the absence of the candidate during the compilation process.
It was noted that only 13 polling stations were declared in the presence of the petitioner's representatives.
Responding to the arguments, the government’s legal representative suggested that any election-related grievances should be addressed to the Commission, urging the petitioner to pursue the matter through the appropriate channels.
