Former Pakistani ambassador to the United States Sardar Masood Khan has said that hardline Republicans and Democrats in the US congress are pressuring President Donald Trump to launch an attack on Iran.
Speaking on Samaa TV’s program Nadeem Malik Live, Masood Khan said that Iran’s foreign minister has been in contact with Steve Witkoff, nuclear-related issues have been put back on the table, and a high-level consultative meeting is scheduled to take place today according to US time.
He stated that the options presented to President Trump include a military strike, while Iran has made it clear that it will respond forcefully if attacked.
Masood Khan said that Israel’s confrontation with Iran reflects an unfinished agenda, adding that while the United States is trying to project strength, it is internally feeling weak. He noted that Washington’s threats to BRICS countries are not without reason, as an alternative global financial system is emerging.
He warned that a war is possible and would be devastating, adding that Pakistan could also be affected. “If war breaks out, it will create multiple challenges for us,” he said.
Masood Khan further noted that China purchases nearly 90 percent of Iran’s crude oil exports, highlighting Iran’s dependence on China. He cited a Chinese representative as saying that the United States is using tariffs as a weapon.
Referring to situations involving Venezuela, Iran, and Greenland, he said the primary target in all these cases is China.
He also said that following the “Battle for Truth,” India has faced diplomatic isolation.
