The Sindh High Court (SHC) acting Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi heard the case of privatization of Pakistan International National Airline (PIA) and remarked: “God Knows, Maybe one day you will privatize this country also.”
SHC CJ Justice Aqeel after hearing the case directed the applicant’s lawyer to come up with preparation and defend his stance in the next hearing.
The case hearing has been adjourned and the date will be fixed later.
“PIA was the virtuous institute but what happened to it? SHC CJ remarked.
SHC CJ asked the petitioner's lawyer to satisfy the court and inquired about the unconstitutional happening in the case and remarked that privatization came under the Privatization Commission (Amendment) Act, 2016 amended in 2023.
A lawyer on behalf of the applicant pleaded with SHC to issue the notice to the government about privatization of the national carrier. The applicant pleaded and claimed that thousands of employees will become jobless if PIA is privatized.
