Friend's revelation

Gordon Smart, a Scottish presenter and friend of Jamie Dornan, revealed the harrowing experience on BBC's "The Good, the Bad, and the Unexpected" podcast. The alarming symptoms and subsequent hospitalization were initially perceived as signs of a heart attack.

The revelation came when both men, in separate hospital rooms, discovered their symptoms were caused by toxic caterpillars. Hairy processionary caterpillars, found on golf courses in the south of Portugal, were identified as the culprits, causing a range of health issues.

The severity of the situation became apparent when doctors informed Gordon Smart that their symptoms might have been triggered by toxic caterpillars. These caterpillars, known for causing harm to both people and animals, had microscopic hairs carrying a poisonous protein.

In a bizarre turn of events, as Gordon Smart was leaving the hospital, paramedics requested a selfie, adding an unexpected twist to their health ordeal. Jamie Dornan, sharing his experience, revealed he found himself in the back of an ambulance just minutes after Smart's departure.
