The BCB said the Pakistan–India match is not just a bilateral fixture but an event of major importance for the global cricket ecosystem. According to the board, such high-profile matches play a key role in sustaining international cricket financially and competitively.

In a related development, the Sri Lankan president has also requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow Pakistan to play the match against India in Sri Lanka.
