Adidas has developed a specialized outfit for the Winter Olympics designed to keep athletes warm from the inside.
At first glance, the “Climawarm” system resembles a regular tracksuit, but it is equipped with multiple heating pads strategically placed to maintain warmth in key muscle groups. The suit is designed to help athletes sustain the correct body temperature even after completing warm-ups.
Margret Aricola, Director of Athlete Performance at Adidas, explained that the company has been working on such systems for several years. During the 2012 London Olympics, Adidas introduced similar devices for track cyclists to help maintain optimal muscle temperature for efficient power output.
The latest version of the suit has been specifically designed for the Winter Olympics, enabling athletes to tackle the unique challenges of performing in sub-zero temperatures while maintaining world-class performance.
The heating pads target the muscles most in need of warmth, and the suit includes features such as a “Boost” mode, which provides extra heat when required. This innovation aims to support athletes in staying physically prepared and performing at their peak under extreme conditions.
