In a terrifying incident, a nurse assistant allegedly sexually assaulted a 24-year-old patient who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in the Alwar region of Rajasthan.
The victim said that the suspect gave her an injection to make her unconscious when she attempted to sound the alarm, according to NDTV, which reports that the alleged attack happened at approximately four in the morning.
Regaining consciousness, the victim—who was receiving treatment for a lung infection—talked about her trauma to her spouse over the phone.
The woman reportedly stated that a male nurse arrived to the ICU in the middle of the night, according to media sources. He pulled back the room's curtains, began making vulgar gestures, and gave the woman an injection when she refused.
The victim said that when she attempted to make noise after regaining consciousness, the accused threatened to inject her once again.
The alleged victim of rape stated that when she attempted to ask a female nurse for assistance, the woman began threatening her as well.
As soon as her husband arrived in the morning, the woman reportedly told him about the entire affair and made a police complaint. The police then acted upon the complaint, obtaining the ICU's CCTV video and making the suspected person under arrest.
CCTV footage shows the suspect, identified as Chirag Yadav, approaching the victim's bed and covering it with curtains. He has been taken into custody to be questioned.
Authorities are looking into the upsetting incident thoroughly and have filed a First Information Report (FIR).
