A dignified and splendid ceremony was held at the Presidency, where Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was conferred Pakistan’s highest civil honour, the Nishan-e-Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, senior military leadership, and key government figures attended the ceremony. On this occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart, in which both sides agreed to further strengthen their historic ties and bilateral cooperation.
According to details, President Zardari expressed sorrow over the losses caused by floods and landslides in Indonesia, while the two presidents reaffirmed their resolve to promote interfaith harmony and tolerance.
The meeting decided to anchor future partnership on the principles of inclusive development, with satisfaction expressed over rising bilateral trade and emphasis placed on achieving balance in commercial exchanges.
The Joint Trade Committee was termed an effective forum for advancing business relations, and agreement was reached to enhance cooperation in IT, agriculture, energy, and health.
Emphasis was laid on joint efforts regarding climate change, disaster management, and sustainable development, and concurrence was reached on strengthening defence cooperation, training, and joint production.
Pakistan and Indonesia expressed determination to undertake joint efforts against Islamophobia, and President Zardari briefed the visiting President on the situation in occupied Kashmir.
A dinner was hosted at the Presidency house in honour of the Indonesian President.
