The District Health Officer has issued an advisory in view of the rising threat of respiratory, cardiac and eye ailments caused by increasing smog in the federal capital.
In the advisory released by the district health department, children, the elderly and chronic patients have been instructed to exercise particular caution. Citizens have been advised to limit all unnecessary outdoor activity.
The advisory stresses keeping windows and doors closed during periods of smog, avoiding smoke, and using masks. Citizens have been told to rinse their eyes with clean water in case of irritation, and to seek immediate medical attention if they experience breathing difficulty or severe symptoms.
A call has also been made for a reduction in traffic and the use of vehicles during smog hours.
