During the hearing, Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb questioned the rationale behind making the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party an accused if Bushra Bibi did not submit the gifts in question. He pointed out parallels to the case of Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, where a husband was held responsible for his wife's actions.
The FIA prosecutor, Umeer Majeed, argued that gifts received by state officials must be declared and submitted, emphasizing that such gifts remain state property unless legally purchased. Justice Aurangzeb also referenced international practices, noting that gifts received by world leaders are often retained according to established rules.
The court highlighted the importance of accurately estimating the value of such gifts, suggesting that proper auctions are necessary for valuation.
Justice Aurangzeb remarked on his observations in a museum in Azerbaijan, where gifts were displayed alongside the images of past leaders.
The court's decision to grant bail provides temporary relief for Bushra Bibi.
