Pakistan has finalized its 15-member squad for the upcoming Cricket World Cup, sources confirmed on Wednesday, with several major inclusions and notable omissions shaping the final team combination.
According to sources, the selection committee has locked in the final squad for the World Cup after extensive deliberations.
The team will represent Pakistan national cricket team in the mega event.
Babar included, Rizwan and Haris Rauf left out
Former captain Babar Azam has been included in the World Cup squad, sources said. However, star wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and fast bowler Haris Rauf have failed to secure places in the final 15.
Sources revealed that Salman Ali Agha, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, and Shadab Khan are all part of the squad. Khawaja Nafay has also been included, strengthening Pakistan’s batting options for the tournament.
Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz will feature as all-rounders in the World Cup squad, according to sources. Spin responsibilities will be shared by Abrar Ahmed, while Usman Khan is also set to be part of the final lineup.
Pace attack led by Shaheen, Naseem
Pakistan’s fast bowling unit will be spearheaded by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, both of whom are certain inclusions, sources said. Usman Tariq and Salman Mirza have also been named in the squad to add depth to the pace department.
Sources added that Waseem Junior, Abdul Samad, and Hasan Ali will be included in the reserves (zero list). These players will remain on standby in case of injuries or last-minute changes before the tournament begins.
While the squad has been finalized internally, the Pakistan Cricket Board is expected to make an official announcement soon.
Fans are now eagerly awaiting confirmation as Pakistan gears up for its World Cup campaign.
