Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with Bilal bin Saqib, the CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council, to discuss the country’s evolving digital economy and the role of youth in mastering cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain, cryptocurrency, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The high-level meeting highlighted a shared vision for Pakistan’s transformation through technology, with a particular focus on empowering the next generation with globally competitive digital skills.
During the meeting, Bilal bin Saqib briefed the field marshal on the Pakistan Crypto Council’s initiatives aimed at equipping young Pakistanis with expertise in blockchain technology, digital finance, and AI. He emphasized that the youth of Pakistan are not merely adapting to global trends but are eager to lead the charge in technological innovation.
“Representation at the global tech table is the demand of our youth,” said Bilal. “We’re cultivating a generation that views digital finance, decentralization, and AI not as threats but as tools for leadership and progress — both individually and nationally.”
The discussion also revolved around fast-tracking the development of Pakistan’s digital financial ecosystem. Both parties stressed the importance of national resolve and readiness to embrace emerging technologies in line with global economic trends.
The meeting acknowledged that preparing a digitally skilled workforce is essential for driving economic resilience and international relevance. It was agreed that youth-centric strategies must be prioritized to position Pakistan as a serious player in the global digital landscape.
In parallel developments, the Ministry of Finance confirmed that the Pakistan government had ratified the establishment of the Digital Assets Authority, which will oversee the blockchain-based financial infrastructure and ensure compliance with international standards.
As a mark of Pakistan’s growing influence in the digital space, Bilal bin Saqib is also scheduled to represent the country at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference in Las Vegas — one of the world’s premier gatherings of crypto and blockchain leaders.
