Samsung may finally be ready to close the fast-charging gap with rivals like OnePlus. A new leak suggests the Galaxy S26 Ultra could arrive with a notable battery and charging upgrade.
A reliable tipster has suggested that Samsung could give the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra a major boost by increasing its wired charging speed. The claim points to a jump that would mark one of Samsung’s biggest charging upgrades in years.
According to the leak, the Galaxy S26 Ultra may support 60W wired charging, up from the 45W seen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra released in 2025.
Noted leaker Ice Universe said Samsung has internally tested the Galaxy S26 Ultra with the new charging setup. Under controlled conditions, the phone reportedly charged from 0% to 75% in just 30 minutes.
However, the tipster cautioned that real-world charging times could vary depending on usage, temperature, and accessories.
How it compares to rivals
The Galaxy S25 Ultra already offers strong charging performance among mainstream flagship phones. Still, it lags behind rivals such as the OnePlus 15, which supports 80W wired charging, along with several Chinese brands like Oppo, Xiaomi, and Honor.
A move to 60W would place Samsung on more competitive footing, particularly against OnePlus, which remains the only Chinese smartphone brand with a major presence in the US market.
Galaxy S26 lineup charging differences
This latest leak aligns with earlier reporting from German publication WinFuture, which suggested varied charging speeds across the Galaxy S26 lineup. According to that report, the Galaxy S26 Plus may stick with 45W, while the standard Galaxy S26 could remain limited to 25W.
If accurate, the Galaxy S26 Ultra would be the only model in the lineup to receive a wired charging upgrade, potentially pushing users toward the more expensive flagship.
