A convoy carrying Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Member of the National Assembly and daughter of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was briefly blocked by protestors near Jamshoro Toll Plaza while she was traveling from Karachi to Nawabshah.
According to police sources, a group of angry demonstrators stopped the convoy and raised slogans against the controversial canal project and corporate farming initiatives. Some protestors reportedly struck the vehicles in the convoy with their hands and sticks, creating a tense moment on the highway.
The security team accompanying the convoy, along with Hyderabad and Jamshoro police, acted swiftly. Aseefa Bhutto’s vehicle was safely removed from the scene without incident.
SSP Jamshoro Zafar Siddiq confirmed that the convoy was halted for less than a minute and that no harm came to the MNA or her security personnel.
“Wherever there’s a breach of law, police take appropriate action,” the SSP said in a media briefing. He added that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the protesters responsible for attempting to disrupt public peace.
The SSP further noted that several individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. He emphasized that maintaining law and order is the police's top priority, and stern action will be taken against those who try to incite unrest.
