PML-N leader and the PM's adviser Rana Sanaullah has claimed that terrorism in Balochistan is backed by foreign forces aiming to destabilize Pakistan.
Speaking on the Samaa TV program 'Red Line', he asserted that the common people of Balochistan are not involved in terrorism, but rather external enemies are fuelling unrest in the province.
“There is foreign-funded terrorism in Balochistan. Pakistan’s enemy forces are behind these terrorists,” Sanaullah stated, adding that these elements receive support from the Taliban and intelligence agencies such as India’s RAW.
He pointed out that terrorists extort money from coal mines and other businesses in Balochistan to fund their activities. “Coming from the mountains and killing people on buses -- this is not a freedom movement. Twenty-two to twenty-three labourers were shot dead; is this what they call a struggle for freedom?” he questioned.
Sanaullah acknowledged the challenges of conducting military operations in the mountainous terrain, where terrorists hide and cross borders easily. However, he noted that the border fencing has helped in reducing infiltration.
"Pakistan is facing terrorism, and India is behind it," Rana Sanaullah alleged, adding that terrorists were fighting against Pakistan.
PTI's anti-state activities
The PML-N leader also took aim at PTI, accusing it of engaging in activities against Pakistan state’s interests. “PTI’s political policy is against the state. Their actions are anti-Pakistan,” he alleged.
Terrorism and Pakistan’s security measures
Sanaullah emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces are actively combating terrorism through intelligence-based operations. “Every day, our soldiers and officers are martyred in the fight against terrorism. Our security agencies are working tirelessly, but there is always room for improvement,” he stated.
Regarding Afghanistan’s role, he criticized the attitude of the Afghan Taliban-led government, saying, “The Afghan rulers’ stance on terrorism is not right. What kind of freedom do these terrorists want? Their only goal is to harm Pakistan.”
Despite ongoing threats, he reassured that Pakistan’s security agencies remain resilient. “As long as our forces are strong, Pakistan will not be harmed,” he concluded.
