Since the Taliban's takeover in 2021, Afghanistan's education system has seen a significant decline. Recent National Entrance Exam results show that less than 50% of students participated compared to 2021.
In 2021, over 200,000 students, including a large number of women, enrolled in various universities. However, this year, the number has dropped to less than 40,000.
According to Voice of America, more than 1 million girls have been deprived of education beyond sixth grade for three consecutive years. The Taliban government has banned women from secondary schools and universities, and also prohibited their participation in sports.
Afghan students express that they see their future as bleak and can only continue their education without fear when Taliban control ends.
