The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended domestic cricketer Hamza Nazar from all forms of domestic and international cricket for two years after an inquiry found that he provided incorrect and incomplete information in a visa application.
The board has also imposed a fine of Rs1 million.
The PCB announced that Hamza Nazar has been banned from participating in all domestic and international cricket activities for two years. In addition to the suspension, the board fined the domestic cricketer Rs1 million following disciplinary proceedings.
The decision means Hamza Nazar will not be eligible to play any domestic or international cricket during the suspension period.
Inquiry launched over visa application
According to the PCB, disciplinary action was initiated after concerns emerged regarding information Hamza Nazar provided while applying for a visa through the board.
The inquiry found that he had failed to disclose complete and accurate information, provided misleading information, and withheld material facts during the visa application process.
The PCB constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the matter.
The committee gave Hamza Nazar an opportunity to present his position and respond to all issues under consideration before reaching its conclusions.
After hearing his explanation, reviewing the available evidence and considering all relevant circumstances, the committee submitted its findings and recommendations to the PCB.
PCB approves disciplinary action
Following a detailed review of the committee's report, the PCB decided to suspend Hamza Nazar from all forms of domestic and international cricket for two years.
The board also imposed a Rs1 million fine, making the disciplinary action effective under the PCB's regulations.
PCB says integrity can't be compromised
In its statement, the PCB said it treats cases involving misrepresentation, non-disclosure and the submission of misleading information with the utmost seriousness.
The board said such conduct is inconsistent with the standards of honesty, professionalism and responsibility expected from individuals associated with Pakistan cricket.
The PCB further emphasized that it would not allow any individual to damage the reputation of the board, Pakistan cricket or the millions of fans who passionately follow the sport.
