A Florida pensioner has become the centre of attention in her retirement community after receiving a licence plate that many interpreted as a cheeky phrase.
Nancy Dello Stritto, of Pompano Beach, said she was shocked when she realised her newly issued licence plate read "SQZ A55", which resembles the phrase "squeeze ass" when read aloud.
"I don't think a senior who is almost 77 will be driving around with a plate that has that to say," Dello Stritto told CBS News Miami.
"How could that pass inspection?" she added.
Dello Stritto said she initially failed to notice the unusual combination after receiving the replacement plate in the mail.
The unexpected registration has since become a talking point among neighbours, with some encouraging her to exchange it while others—including her sons and other family members—have urged her to keep it.
Despite her initial embarrassment, she has decided to leave the plate on her vehicle, at least for now.
"I'm resigned to it; maybe it was destined for it to be on my car," she said.
"I can handle it if I get a few honks here and there. Actually, being over 70, I might like a few honks."
According to CBS, Florida licence plates have been manufactured at a state prison in northern Florida for nearly a century before being distributed through state agencies.
Broward County officials said motorists who receive licence plates considered offensive or inappropriate can exchange them free of charge.
