In a landmark step toward openness and accessibility, OpenAI has released two powerful artificial intelligence models that are free to download, modify, and use — rekindling its original mission to democratize AGI for the benefit of all.
OpenAI unveiled the gpt-oss-120b and gpt-oss-20b language models this week, marking its first major release of open-weight models in years. “This is the first time that we’re releasing an open-weight model in language in a long time, and it’s really incredible,” said Greg Brockman, OpenAI co-founder and president.
