As Pakistan celebrates Eid-ul-Adha with religious zeal, national leaders, including the president, prime minister, and key political figures, extended heartfelt greetings to the nation, emphasizing the core values of sacrifice, compassion, unity, and support for the oppressed.
In his Eid message, President Asif Zardari stressed the importance of promoting sacrifice, love, brotherhood, and unity in everyday life, urging citizens to embody these values beyond the occasion.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his congratulatory message to the nation, said Eid-ul-Adha is a powerful reminder of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail’s (AS) obedience and sacrifice. “The essence of Eid lies not only in the ritual of animal sacrifice, but in the greater lesson of sacrificing one’s personal desires and interests for higher moral goals,” he said.
Maryam Nawaz remembers martyrs
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the martyrs of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsous and victims of Indian aggression, including the children who lost their lives to terrorism.
“On this Eid, we thank Allah for His blessings and urge people to sacrifice not just animals but also their anger, ego, and arrogance,” she said. She also expressed solidarity with the people of Gaza, condemning ongoing atrocities.
Abdul Aleem Khan pays tribute to national martyrs
Federal Minister and IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan said the festival should also be a moment to honour those who laid down their lives for the nation.
“We are celebrating Eid in remembrance of Marka-e-Haq Bunyan-un-Marsoos. Let us pray for the oppressed Muslims of Gaza and Palestine as well,” he said, adding prayers for peace and prosperity in Pakistan.
Mohsin Naqvi calls for love, unity
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in his message, underscored that Eid teaches selflessness and submission to Allah’s will, citing the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS) as timeless examples. He called on citizens to end hatred and spread love, and saluted the martyrs who defended the country.
“May 10 was a historic day of unity between the people and the armed forces,” he noted.
Defense Minister slams silence on Gaza
Speaking in Sialkot after offering Eid prayers, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif criticized the Islamic world’s silence on Palestinian suffering. “Even praying for Palestine is objected to. On this Eid, let us remember the oppressed Muslims in Gaza and pray for their victory,” he said.
KP CM Gandapur urges care for needy
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, after attending prayers in Dera Ismail Khan, urged people to look after the underprivileged and praised the arrangements made for cleanliness during the sacrificial rituals. He appealed to citizens to play their part in keeping the surroundings clean.
Bilawal urges support for needy
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended Eid greetings and highlighted that the festival carries a universal message of sacrifice, compassion, and solidarity. He called on people to remember the poor, disaster-affected communities, and conflict zones like Gaza.
“We are committed to building an egalitarian and welfare-based Pakistan, where no citizen is left behind due to economic hardship,” he stated.
