Two brothers have been arrested on Friday for allegedly murdering their sister in a bid to seize land.
The arrests followed Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s notice after a video of the victim’s children surfaced on social media, demanding justice.
According to police, the 33-year-old victim, Kanwal Bashir, was a resident of Pakpattan. Her husband had transferred 38 acres of land and two houses into her name. Her brothers, Aamir and Asim, reportedly wanted to seize the property and in a violent act, fatally shot her.
A murder case has been registered on the complaint of Kanwal Bashir’s sister. Following the CM’s notice, the suspects were apprehended.
Pakpattan DPO said that investigations have commenced and both suspects are currently in police custody.
