Apple has added a brand-new Games app with iOS 26, giving iPhone users a centralized place for gaming. Designed as a social and personalized hub, the app aims to make discovering, managing, and playing games easier than ever.
With iOS 26, Apple has introduced two new apps for iPhone users, one of which is called Apple Games. Apple describes it as “a personalized home for games and playing with friends,” highlighting its focus on both gameplay and social interaction.
Gaming remains one of the most popular uses of the iPhone, spanning casual titles to high-budget AAA games. Apple’s new app is designed to bring all these experiences together in one place.
Unified gaming hub across Apple devices
The Games app is available across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, allowing users to access their games and activity regardless of device.
When you open the app in iOS 26, you’ll find five main sections:
-
Home
-
Arcade
-
Friends
-
Library
-
Search
Each tab focuses on a different part of the gaming experience.
Exploring the Key Features of Apple Games
The Home section will feel familiar to anyone who has used Apple TV, Apple Music, or Apple Podcasts. It highlights recently played games, suggests new titles, and offers a quick look at what friends are playing.
This makes it easy to jump back into games or discover something new without searching the App Store.
The Arcade tab is dedicated to Apple Arcade, Apple’s subscription service offering more than 200 games with no ads or in-app purchases.
Apple Arcade is available as part of the Apple One bundle or as a standalone subscription priced at $6.99 per month.
The Friends section builds on Game Center features. It shows your friends’ activity, tracks what they are playing, and lets you start gaming challenges.
This tab is designed to make gaming more social and interactive.
The Library tab displays all games installed on your iPhone. With updates in iOS 26.2, filtering options have been expanded, making it easier to manage large game libraries.
Game achievements and upcoming events are also accessible here.
The Search tab allows users to look up specific games while also browsing categories such as Multiplayer, Action, Family, Puzzle, Music, and more.
This makes discovery easier for users who aren’t sure what they want to play next.
Controller support improves in iOS 26.2
For users who play with a game controller, iOS 26.2 brings improved navigation support within the Games app. Players can now move through the app using a controller instead of switching between touch controls and physical buttons.
This update improves usability on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
How useful the Games app feels will depend on how often you play and whether social features matter to you. Its strongest advantages are advanced filtering for large libraries and better ways to interact with friends through challenges and activity tracking.
Many other features already exist within the App Store, but the Games app brings them together in a more focused and organized way.
