Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed all relevant institutions to develop a Ramadan relief package designed to benefit the public, emphasizing transparency and efficiency in providing food assistance to the poor.
During a meeting chaired by PM Shehbaz Sharif, officials reviewed the federal government’s proposed Ramadan package and the independent third-party validation of last year’s relief efforts.
The prime minister praised the report from the authoritative audit institution, highlighting that last year’s package had successfully created a transparent system to ensure food items reached citizens at affordable prices.
“Thanks to this package, the prevailing system of exploitation of the poor has been transformed into a transparent mechanism,” Sharif remarked.
Digital wallets to streamline aid distribution
The Prime Minister instructed authorities to explore digital wallets as a means of distributing relief funds, calling it a potential milestone toward a cashless economy. Collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan is expected to further enhance the efficiency of this system.
A digital dashboard and systematic monitoring framework will also be implemented to ensure accountability, maintain transparency, and protect the dignity of the public.
