Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday made a series of landmark announcements in recognition of Pakistan's successful defense during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, declaring May 10 to be celebrated annually as 'Marka-e-Haq Day' across the country.
In a statement, the prime minister said that May 10 marks a glorious chapter in Pakistan’s defense history, reflecting the unmatched bravery and professional excellence of the country's armed forces.
“The professional capabilities of our brave forces have made us proud,” he said, while also announcing May 16 (Friday) to be observed as a 'Day of Gratitude' for the resounding victory on the defense front.
“Special prayers will be offered nationwide on May 16 to thank Allah Almighty and to pray for the prosperity and strength of our beloved country,” the prime minister added.
Relief package for war-affected citizens and martyrs
The prime minister also unveiled a comprehensive relief and compensation package for those affected by Indian attacks and the families of martyrs, vowing that the state would not abandon its heroes.
Key highlights of relief package:

Rs10 million will be given to the families of civilian martyrs, while those injured will receive Rs1 to 2 million.

Pakistan Army martyrs’ families will be compensated Rs10 million to Rs18 million, depending on rank.

Home facility allowances of Rs19 million to Rs42 million will also be provided based on rank.

Full salary and allowances of martyrs will continue until their scheduled retirement date.

Free education till graduation for children of martyrs.

Marriage grant of Rs1 million for the wedding of one daughter of each martyr.

Injured armed forces personnel will receive Rs2 to 5 million, based on severity.

The federal government will reconstruct homes and mosques damaged during Indian strikes.

All medical treatment expenses of the injured will be fully covered by the state.

Individuals who played a vital role in defending Pakistan's honour and sovereignty on any front will be recognized at the national level and awarded for their contributions.
“The government is responsible for the care and future of the children of martyrs. We will fulfill this sacred duty,” the prime minister affirmed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the celebrations on May 10 every year will reflect the spirit of national unity, honor the sacrifices of martyrs, and acknowledge the strength of Pakistan's armed forces.
