Multiple explosions were heard in Rawalpindi and Lahore on Friday night.
Two blasts were heard in Rawalpindi. The one in Pindi was heard near the Nur Khan Airbase in Chaklala. Police have cordoned off the area, while rescue teams have also reached the spot.
Security sources say the attempted Indian attack near Chaklala's Nur Khan Airbase has been foiled.
In a hurriedly called news conference on Friday night, ISPR chief Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry explained that India fired missiles from air to ground, targeting Nur Khan Air Base, Mureed Base in Chakwal and the Shorkot base.
"However, all assets of the Pakistan Air Force are safe, as most of the missiles were intercepted by Pakistan's air defence system, and the ones that fell on the ground did not cause any loss," the DG assured. "Now you wait for our response."
He also revealed that India also fired missiles in Afghanistan. "India is pushing the entire region into war," the military spokesperson declared. "Pakistan is thwarting all acts of aggression by India, reflecting India's paranoia after failure of all these acts."
On the other hand, multiple blasts were heard in Lahore also. The nature and exact location of both incidents are being determined.
